These days it seems there’s a new bank opening every week, and one going out of business just as fast. With all of the banking mega-mergers and closings that you hear about these days, it’s easy to be confused.
Unless, of course, you bank with Libertyville Savings Bank. We’ve been providing our customers with the same friendly and professional service for more than 100 years now, and don’t see any reason to change the way we do business today.
The Libertyville Savings Bank was established in 1901 in Libertyville, Iowa, with 100 shares of stock offered at $100 per share. Total capital was $10,000, and at the end of one year our assets had grown to $29,579. Our original Board of Directors consisted of E.B. Riniker, S.K. Davis, Frank Hurst, S.H. Watkins (president), Ed Glotfelty, C.H. Linden and Mace Clinkenboard.
From that first year Libertyville Savings Bank kept growing; writing its own proud history as it earned loyal new customers. In 1920 Ila Glotfelty was hired, becoming our bank’s first female employee. In 1976 the original bank building was given a large facelift and expansion, which doubled the size of the original bank building. By then the bank had grown to $6,412,000 in assets.
We kept true to our promise of integrity and trust, and it never let us down. In February of 1996 the bank moved its charter from the original Libertyville site to a new headquarters in Fairfield. The next year we opened an additional office in Eldon, Iowa. By that time our assets had now reached $54,660,000.
Today Libertyville Savings Bank operates four locations (Fairfield, Libertyville, Eldon and Keosauqua). Our assets have grown to $200,000,000, and our present Board of Directors includes Robert B. Stump, Mike Holt, Jill Burnett, Larry Unkrich, LaVerne Weber, Herb Burnett, Amber Stump McDowell, and Blain Smith.
Because we live and work in the same community as you, we understand your unique business and personal banking needs, and can provide the five-star financial services you deserve.
Whether you’re in Fairfield, Libertyville, Eldon, or Keosauqua you’re never very far from “the only bank you’ll ever need.” Stop in and see what we can do for you.
